A little boy considers what kind of truck to drive when he grows up: a milk truck, a delivery truck (""I'd look through all the boxes, and if one was for me, I'd get it right away""), a sprinkler truck, a snowplow, an oil truck (""If someone's house was cold...the oil burner would go on with a hum, and make the house warm""), a telephone repair truck, a dump truck, a horse van (""I'd know just what to do"" to coax the horse in), etc.. etc. ""But most of all I'd like to drive the fire truck...CLANG CLANG CLANG CLANG CLANG....Unless I decide...."" Each double-page spread features a different truck, and they're drawn with the same lively enthusiasm as the text. What makes this go is the projection of a child into a truck driver enjoying his prerogatives; it might even catch up with the old reliable ABC of Cars and Trucks.
