KIRKUS REVIEW

Yet another minimal counting book featuring one kitten on the trail of three squirrels, four puppies, five ducklings, etc. . . . until, stalking ten chicks, she's scared back home by the ""Cluck, clack"" of mama hen. If you're wondering about number two, it's represented, ill-advisedly, by ""Where to?"" (though the illustration shows two dragonflies--as well as two each of some indistinguishable flowers). Numeral by numeral, the rhyming text may or may not make some sense (""To sniff at eight berries on a plate""); at no point in text or pictures is there any sign of imagination.
