JENNY'S CAT

Lonely in a new town, Jenny is happy to find a cat at her door one morning but distressed when the cat turns up pregnant and Mama insists on dumping it in the country. And so one stormy day with Papa gone off on his railroad job, Jenny runs away with her cat, getting only as far as the cellar of Doris, the little girl across the street. A change of heart by her parents, word of a man who will spay the cat, friendship with Doris and with the old lady next door, and new kittens who will go to her new friends: All these blessings make this slight story the undisturbing, old-fashioned heart-warmer you knew it would be.
