KIRKUS REVIEW

The third or more of Miss Read's little Christmas stories, a sip of cheer, in which Fairacre acquires a new resident, Miriam Quinn, all aglow in her singie-blessedness. She also has little use for Christmas ever since, as a youngster, she noticed the twitching evidence of her father in a pillowcase. Now a summons to take care of her brother's three children during this festive time makes her forget her own cruel loss in making it a happy holiday for them. Just right for the afternoon of the night before when you're watching Bing Crosby.
