This continues the daily round of an English country Village School -- one of the surprise hits of 1956 -with the goldfish bowl life of its headmistress. Here Miss Read is the target for romance when presumably unattached Mr. Mawne appears. In addition to the subtle hints and undesired good wishes for romance she has school problems. Her warming goal -- to be part of a small community is realized as she is ultimately freed from Mr. Mawne when his wife materialized.
