A good though not inspired life of Jean Lafitte, gentleman smuggler, who set all New Orleans by the ears, who played up three loyalties, one against the other, who aided Jackson at the Battle of New Orleans, and then went his independent way and set up an island kingdom off the coast of Texas. Difficult material to locate and this fills a real need.
