Unconventional illustrations, beautifully blended in color, graceful in movement, expressionist like in figure portrayal, tell the story captioned by a sparse text of a little girl's acquisition of Nyan-Nyan (kitten in Japanese), the animal's maturity and motherhood and the antics of its offspring. In order to spare herself the pain of sharp separation, Momo makes a permanent foot-printed birth certificate for each kitten which she keeps as a memento as each one is given away. The highlight of the book is its action ""shots"" of cats at play and mischief.
