After being publicly humiliated at a high-profile charity event, serial dater Suzanne Hamilton scours her lengthy list of scorned ex-boyfriends to figure out which one might be sabotaging her career. It’s a stellar premise, but the plot is light on suspense—and even light on exes—as she quickly eliminates a handful of men on her list. Dylan Burke, the famous singer whose event Suzanne has just ruined, saves her from further peril by inviting her to his sprawling cabin to help his sister plan her wedding. There, Suzanne squirms around Dylan’s immature friends and hillbilly relatives while he teases the uptight planner for looking like “the hot girl from a sexual harassment video.” But in a refreshing twist, it’s the charming but rakish heroine who can’t make a commitment, not the younger man. After watching Dylan try in vain to fend off the bikini-clad 20-somethings who keep showing up in his hot tub, Suzanne leaves him heartbroken, convinced that the celebrity lifestyle is not for her. It takes an intervention from her friend Marci, who got her happily-ever-after in The Marriage Pact, to make Suzanne see what she’s been missing—and to try to win Dylan back before it’s too late.

Readers looking for suspense will find little action here, but romance abounds in this sexy and modern love story.
