I picked these galleys up with a query in my mind as to the layman's conceivable interest in this subject. I found myself reading it with avid curiosity, finding it crammed with bits of gratuitous information, with comparative statistics that I'll probably never need again, but that were very illuminating. The comparative developments of telephone use here and in the rest of the world, some of the special services that have been developed, the potentialities of the telephone in years shead, the linking of telephone with other things that, to most of us, have no connection. Then odd bits of information about requirements in operators, training, procedure, service facilities. Telephone Directories. Research and by-products. There is probably a business market for it. My interest was purely spontaneous and unexpected, so there are doubtless others like me. Should be a natural to those who liked Coon's American Tel and Tel.
