KIRKUS REVIEW

The devil's own cookbook, with hot stuff from all over the world: Indonesia, Mexico, Africa, and the Caribbean. Few could endure more than a single course or dish at a time and Hodgson doesn't go into the subject of menu planning. However, individual entries from Scallop Ceviche to a fancy lamb dish in macadamia sauce will make dinner guests sit up--or leap out of their chairs. An assortment of curry powders and pastes ranging from mild to incendiary opens the book and some infernal chutneys and relishes end it. Have a large pitcher of ice water on emergency standby.
