ALL MY LITTLE DUCKLINGS

A day in the life of seven ducklings, from waking in their nest in the reeds with their mother at sunrise to snuggling back in by starlight. The decorative quality of the flat illustrations is the strength of this simple story: the patterns created by underwater plants seen at eye level, other animals encountered, and the rhythmic progression of the ducklings themselves are appealing, the use of color creative and harmonious. The text includes a great many verbs and onomatopoetic words (""Splatter Splash Dibble Dabble""), strung together with no particular art but numerous enough to enrich the vocabularies of the youngest. Not as elegant as Tafuri, but nice.
