An affable rabbit watches the sun rise, and goes through the day romping among other creatures. Bunny listens to the birds sing; a shower changes the mood, sending the bunny running for cover; a rainbow completes the outing. The spare text can be read rhythmically: “Sun is rising, morning sparkles/Friends begin the day/Hiding in the flower garden/Hip hop leap.” The colors and arrangements of shapes are exceptionally artistic, but the creatures are portrayed in a fashion that may seem complicated to the board-book audience. In fact, fans of Wellington’s Night Rabbits (1995) may miss this one, with its young format, even though story and art are comparable. (Board book. 1-3)
