This aimless story of a stray kitten on Key West boasts humor only in its title. Tom gives Rusty a home and with the start of vacation boards his dad's shrimp boat where he helps out and listens to tales of buried treasure. After investigating library maps, Tom persuades his dad to allow him an overnight camping trip on one of the keys where both boy and kitten unearth a valuable block of raw silver. The story drifts rather than builds and neither text nor illustrations charge it with life. Primarily a picture book for the 8 to 11 group.
