DOCTORS AT WAR

Pub Date: May 11th, 1945

A series of reports on the medical services today, their programs and procedures, organisation and accomplishments. Factual and statistical evidence predominates over personal and human interest for what is largely an accounting of objectives and actualities. There is the medical side of selective service, the mobilization of 50,000 doctors and their allocation, the army doctor, the army surgeon in action, and the amazing life-saving record of advanced surgery; the navy doctor, the flight surgeon. Allied medical work on the home front, convalescence and rehabilitation hospitals, the Veterans' Administration, Red Cross, and National Research Council -- and what they have achieved. This reaffirms with precise information as approved by the medical association bigwigs, the superiority of medicine in this war. It should prove comforting to anxious families of men in service, but the whole story has yet to be told.
