RAY OF THE RAINBOWS

Ray is another kind of Mowgli, a boy of the northwest Canadian wilds who had been abandoned as a child and shifted for himself on the outskirts of Happy Valley. A romanticized narrative takes Ray, now in his teens, through several adventures as friend and defender of the milder forest creatures and, by contrasting the wilderness with the town, gradually prepares its readers for Ray's final and rewarding contact with man.
