THE STORY OF TRAINS by Mortimer Simmons

THE STORY OF TRAINS

By

Pub Date: Feb. 15th, 1964
Publisher: Putnam

A companion volume to The Story of Cars, this book shares the same approach to the history of railroading. It is international in scope; it features excellent, full color illustrations on each page; the diagrams and cross-sections are many and well labeled; it explores the related topics of passenger comfort, fuel, track design and topographical problems in train routes; it devotes a section to underground railways and their history and the future of rail transport. Here again, an index would have made it a better book, but this time the small cartoons were dropped. The two books together should really travel in both bookstores and libraries--considering the number of illustrations, the price of the rides are dirt, cheap.
