CHRISTMAS IS EVERYWHERE, INCLUDING ASIA MINOR

This is that more than a story, less than a novel, more than a card, less than a gift sort of item--genial, and not too sentimental, and all about a skinny kid, Tobias Joseph Barish who lives in the Philadelphia of the '30's. And all he wants is a Christmas tree. He's Jewish, and his Uncle Max is a Rabbi, and his parents don't understand or approve, but his grandmother does and so do the blowsily lovable couple next door who are bootleggers.... A nice kind of corn, like popcorn, to go with the tree.
