HOW TO BE A CIVILIAN

Veteran books date as fast as World War I tactics and 1944 block busters. Thompson wrote this (or did his research perhaps?) when, for example, one company could take on returned veterans -- and now, that same company has dropped from 32,000 personnel to ,000 and cannot even reinstate their own returned veterans. It may be heartening to find an ex-sergeant with sublime faith in easy solutions of all problems (clothing, dating, jobs, etc.) but -- beyond some laughs at latrine humor -- few veterans will feel this supplies any answer to their pressing problems today.
