The simian world offers most of the characters for these stories, though there is a delightful one about an aardvark, and another about a baby elephant who grows accustomed to flying in an airplane. Mrs. Johnson's sympathy for her pets is always apparent, her descriptions of these animals, encountered in Africa and brought back, in some instances, to Central Park Zoo, are affectionate without being sentimental. The best story is that of Dyna-Mite, boss of Monkey Town.
