JONATHAN'S SPARROW

A very little boy finds a very little sparrow, and the results make a very little story. Jonathan keeps the bird in a cage until the profound words, ""Goodbye, little bird"" watches him fly away. The stylized black and white illustrations, in which the little boy seems flat and glassy-eyed, are about as lively and original as the little text. Need a limited vocabulary confine the author as far as the story is concerned?
