KIRKUS REVIEW

WHAT THE HECK IS A MURRAY THE K?...A MURRAY THE K is adult approval of teen tastes in music, clothes, and people...A MURRAY THE K is an adult's complete understanding of their trials and turmoil and boxes"" etc., etc. And if you don't know who Murray the K is, you've been in the wrong bag, man. He's The Man, What's Happening, teen interpreter, introducer of Beatles and Stones and a cat called Dylan, D.J.'s D.J., fab, great, gear. And in this, one of the kookiest books of the year, he does tell it like it is in chapters entitled ""The Typical, Untypical, Trying, Tantalizing, Titillating Teenage Girl,"" etc. There are interviews where teen typicals and teen toughs say it with style, and private monologues where M the K talks it out with his ever-cool self. You'll either buy it because kids want it or you won't buy it because it's trivial, ephemeral. Neither Murray the K nor the binding will last long, but now, today, this is like it is.
