KIRKUS REVIEW

A New York City hit and run accident ties in with two others in the near past and leads up to the murder of Burford, a wealthy contractor. Emotional friction in the menage there between the dead man's second wife and her stepdaughter, hostile and hysterical, does not deflect Desmond Shannon's investigation of an outfit which deals in organized bribery and corruption. No icing, but a straightforward competence.
