TRICKY TORTOISE

A fourth delightful, original, beautifully illustrated animal fable from the team that produced Hot Hippo. Tortoise, who looks a lot like a rock, is weary of being stepped on--especially by self-important Elephant. He wagers Elephant that he can jump right over his ""tiny, stupid"" head--and creates the illusion that he has done so by enlisting his identical brother's help. Hadithi's energetic style makes this reiteration of the satisfying theme of triumph of the lowly over the powerful just right for reading aloud. Kennaway's bold, bright pictures, outstanding in their imaginative use of pattern and design, extend the story's humor.
