HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

The slight and more than slightly precious account of a birthday. What appears to be a seven or eight-year-old girl awakens feeling not very different but extra special. First the birds and then her family carol ""Happy Birthday"" to her. The magic moments of a birthday have not been captured here. Comment (supplied by the child), her privileged circumstances and her methods of celebration have little recognition value. Illustrations by Blegvad are small, dark and heavy.
