KIRKUS REVIEW

A certain tarnished glamor for the story of Alix, mother of three (Mike, David and Duff) but basically an incorrigible tramp, with her assured attractions and her contempt for the conventional. It is Mike whose resentment of Alix is the most acute; while David, a Navy veteran, is able to take her with a tolerant affection, withstands her prideful love of power when he falls in love with Ina. But it is Duff, the only daughter, whose childlike charm has been subdued by her mother, who is finally matured when she falls in love with her mother's lover, an artist, and elopes with him. Alix, alone for the first time, makes a rapid recovery as she attracts and annexes a substitute...A practised and seasoned and sophisticated story for women chiefly. Not for P.L.'s.
