TREACHERY IN CRETE

Ar and Pta continue their adventures in this sequel to The Egyptian Necklace where the two are guests of a famous merchant family in Crete. Danger is not at an end with their safe escape from Mediterranean pirates on the journey from Egypt to Crete. Once in the Artish household, the boys again uncover a plan of a jealous villain. Cousin Haitch is out to rob his relatives of their wealth. In an attempt to hide the family's jewels, Ar and Pta set out on a hazardous journey across the island, thwarted by temporary capture. New characters make an appearance, and again historical color predominates, but the plot is too like the previous to stand fully on its own. As Ar parts with two jewels from his own valuable necklace, we are told that two more adventures await us in other ancient lands. We hope they will be distinguished by greater variation.
