KIRKUS REVIEW

Good factual book which should prove useful supplementary reading for history and geography. The book falls into four parts:- the flags which represented the nations that contributed to the founding of our country, from the Vikings on: the background for the first flag of the warring colonies and of the United States; the changing flag reflecting the expansion of the country; and finally, the historical and romantic flags that were of momentary importance in various wars in which the U.S. engaged. Through the ""stars and stripes"" the story of the U.S.
