During Burgoyne's Hudson River Campaign most Indians sided with the British. So when young John Trimble came across Ashara, a half-starved Indian boy who pledged friendship, the patriot boy had opposition from family and friends. John found his own opportunity to serve when he acted as spy for General Schuyler. And he helps Ashara to clear the cloud of shame which blanketed him, with his own people and with the white rebels. Action is sometimes incoherent. Though the Hudson Valley locale is not depicted with particular emphasis, as regional fictional material this could appeal to libraries and bookshops in that section of New York.
