Mystery solved, selfishness overcome in a small town small time vermont riddle. A fourteen-year-old girl, Marny, befriends an outcast boy, son of a religous fanatic. She happens upon an antique flute which happens to belong to his ancestors, and from the moment she examines the dirt-encrusted stick the plot thickens and Jells--completely. Inside the flute is a clue to treasure, inside the boy is music. They find the treasure in his house, Marny finds enough generosity in herself to give the boy the flute she. covets. A tough stranger tracking down the newspaper report of treasure is hard to believe--and the rest is all too obvious. A gimpy effort.
