DUNCAN PHYFFE AND THE ENGLISH REGENCY

A definitive book on a period of growing importance in American interior decoration, since the furniture of that period, and its reflection over here in the work of Duncan Phyffe and his followers fits into settings that are essentially American and American at its best. The background of the period, historically and humanly, the sense of life going on, in court and in the fine homes of England, makes the period itself come alive. The part of the book dealing with Phyffe gives a significance to his work and its place which gives credence to the legendary value he has achieved. Superb reproductions of fine photographs of Regency and Phyffe furniture make this an important reference book for libraries, museums, and decorators. Sale definitely specialized, but a good gift book item for collectors and people interested in decoration, whether professionals or amateurs.
