KIRKUS REVIEW

A little deeper than Spring In the Air (1953, p. 121), but along the same lines is this artistic career-romance set in a Texas Gulf town and about Debra who wants to be a sculptor. Faced with the prospect of having to go to work instead of continuing art school, Debra is job hunting one day when she runs into Val Melvin, a successful young local sculptor, who has a studio and classes. He sees some of her work, encourages her to reproduce and market it, and Debra is off to a good start. Working and studying with Val produces further good results, sculpture and friendship-wise, and when some minor upsets have been righted, and when Debra turns down Greg, another boy who can't see why she wants to work she is ready to start a more rewarding life with Val.
