Benjamin and Elephant of Pumpernickel Tickle and Mean Green Cheese (1978) are back, this time in the kitchen where they're concocting a birthday breakfast for Mom. ""Quiet!"" pleads Mom, from time to time, but Elephant is irrepressible. Kids will delight in both the antics and the exaggerated list of ingredients; parents will agree that an enthusiastic four-year, old cook does sound as though he has at least one large, rambunctious elephant to help him. As depicted in Patz's lively illustrations, the comic mayhem is sure to appeal to both.
