Half-fantasy, with a certain old-world sentimentality, quasi-precious manner. It is an idealistic romance, in which Susan falls in love with the unknown tenant of their English home, a writer whose fame has spread, and he in turn, falls in love with her picture, sensing in it the personification of his dream heroine, Botticelli's Simonetta. A dream come true sort of story, a gentle, lyrical romance, implausible but with a degree of charm.
