I liked this better than any collection Nash Buckingham has done, though no single story surpasses the classic Shootines' Gent'man. Listed by the publishers as fiction, this reads more like a collection of personal experiences, dating back to childhood and the beginnings of the making of a great sportsman of the old school. Most of the stories are set in the South, -- in duck blinds, at field trials, on lakes and rivers and marchlands. There are stories of great hunters and great gentlemen of the field brotherhood, from Negro paddlers to noblemen.
