THE HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP by Nat Fleischer

THE HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP

Pub Date: June 10th, 1949

The outstanding authority on boxing does an outstanding history on the heavyweight championship from 1719 to the present and Joe Louis. It makes fascinating reading for anyone interested in this sport. Fleischer brings to life the old champions who are but names to today's fans; he writes of Sullivan, Corbett, Fitzsimmons, Jeffries, Dempsey, Tunney, Jack Johnson (he considers him best, which will cause heated argument)- these are names which many today knew in their youth as still champions. He describes famous fights so thoroughly and in such minute detail that the reader is at the ringside with him. Surely worth the price of admission to any fan who can take time off from televised second rate fights to read about fights that made history.
