ELVES AND ELLEFOLK

According to legend, elves and ellefolk, here referred to as Little People, have made appearances in almost every country of the world, from Turkey to Ireland, from Africa to Iceland. Although endowed with magical powers they are known to have sought human assistance on several occasions. When the Eskimos saved a shipload of them from the raging sea, they repaid their good saviours by providing the waters with whale. And when Ghiberti agreed to retrieve them from a devilish eternity by casting them as bronze figurines, they immortalized him as well. Although well written, this is a somewhat uneven collection, where some stories entertain and others lack spark.
