VIRGIN, GOODBYE

A portrait of a prostitute, which if by no means sordid or salacious, still does not neglect a practically golden opportunity for sensual sensationalism. Virgie, whom some may not find a ""warm and gallant American girl"" (the blurb), is not too more than a pretty, ingenuous, and not too bright blends who, in the pursuit of her profession, enjoys it thoroughly but gets in over her head which isn't too well equipped to deal with much beyond the movies and beauty parlor by day, parties by night. Here is the routine of phone calls and short sessions, of her men, Hal who is naive, Joe who is depraved, and Marty, whom she loves and gives money to... By a city school teacher and a steady contributor to the Saturday Review, this is not necessarily cheap, but is certainly an explicit exploration of the good time girl.
