A random book of essays this, dealing with the Queen of Roumania, the Prince Cannort's Mother, King Abdullah and sundry Victorian and post-Victorian figures. Bolitho--author of the Reign of Queen the House in Half Moon Street etc., etc.--here presents hitherto unpublished letters and documents which throw sidelights of mild interest on characters about whom already much has been written. The most interesting material is a series of letters by Queen Marie of Roumania to a young man in America, whom she had never seen, but with whom this impulsive woman kept up for years a remarkably revealing correspondence. A rather Inconsequential book of possible interest to researchers, but of no great other interest.
