EVERYONE SUSPECT

Martin Newcome, middle-aged widower, almost defeated by the loss of his wife od the emptiness of his life, is accused of murdering his office clerk, a young girl be secretly loved. The more obvious evidence is not enough to allow the police to hold him, but his fellow citizens persecute him. Horne Browning, 79, who is living but his days in the comfortable suspended animation of his club, tries his slightly alsied hand at solving the case. No more charming a detective has been invented ately. The well realized characters and the plot leave the readers to guess-and-re-darned!
