A better book than Winding Road, and though not so powerful a book as Bredon and Sons, it has greater chance for popularity in being briefer, more compact. A father and son story, not in the Deeping tradition, but a unique picture of two men, bound by close sympathy and understanding, who through the force of circumstances and the father's disintegration, grow steadily apart. Though it purports to be a portrait of Alister, son of Richard, it is at the same time, a portrait of Richard himself. Eventually, Neil Bell will find a definite market. This book should help along that road. For the man can write!
