KIRKUS REVIEW

Neil Bell can be counted on for a certain warm sympathy, plentiful detail, a rounding out of his characters. But this seems to lack the sturdiness of the best of his earlier work -- though it has more elements of popular appeal than Winding Road... The paralleling of the stories of Anna Castell and Robert Sanford, touching only after both have tasted shame, tragedy and sorrow.
