Again a mother-in-law situation, but from a totally different angle from that presented in MRS. GREEN'S DAUGHTER-IN-LAW. Rather is this a family story, involving problems that most families face in one guise or another, -- a triangle situation, not cutting very deep, but causing a good deal of unhappiness; an adolescent girl, going through all the disillusionments and disappointments when the apron strings are first loosened; a three-generations-in-one-house problem. Mrs. White has a faculty for portraying the commonplace in so vivid a way that every reader will recognize the authenticity of her picture, as convincingly as Margaret Culkin Banning does in her books. A good story, with elements of such general interest that it should appeal to the woman's magazine public the country over.
