SECRET OF THE SILVER SPOONS

In 1916 (far enough in the past now for wonderful things to happen easily) Grandma receives word of a legacy waiting for her if she can prove her identity. This isn't easy, for 70 years before, on the way West, her family had been killed by outlaws and she had spent some time with rescuing Indians. Her hope of proof rests with some engraved silver spoons which she'd hidden in a tree by a forgotten oasis in Apache territory. Her grandson Paul is sure they can find the spoons on their summer trip, whi his father puts his faith in county records and aged Indians. They're both partly right and the story spins itself out blandly with a little of a lot of things: Indians (good, clean and truthful) horses, ranches, dust storms, and a believable happy ending. The spoons are hard to find, but the search turns some hidden truths about life in general. A low voltage mystery with a likable cast.
