Charlotte Mason's freshman year at college ends with her expectant return to her home town where she will spend a summer vacation working on the town paper and, she hopes, clinch her relationship with childhood friend Drew. But conflict, awaits Charlotte when she finds that Drew does not hold her militant view toward women's equality with men, a conflict accentuated by the arrival of her maladjusted and career-driven roommate. An exciting stint on the paper in which Drew and Charlotte fight together for its survival and before it's over Charlotte realizes that the differences between the sexes are, perhaps, what draws them together. A wholesome heroine and a meaningful theme makes this a palatable, if somewhat uninventive, novel for teen-age girls.
