BLACK MARTINIQUE RED GUIANA by Nicol Smith

BLACK MARTINIQUE RED GUIANA

By

Publisher: Bobbs-Merrill

The author of Burma Road takes his readers on visits to Martinique, disputed property of Vishy France , and to Guiana, noteworthy primarily as a penal colony for France, where Dreyfus, was a prisoner. He spins a good yarn -- he has a faculty for picking up good yarns from other people and the result is that these journeys of his vils more than simply travel reading, there are personalities, adventures, bits of History, of lo, of human interest. Episodic in handling, almost naive in simplicity of style, it still has appeal for the Halliburton market.
