HEATHER HILL

A much watered-down Wind In The Willows -- these bland adventures with a selection of anthropomorphic, brilliant animals -- Soruff Fox, Stripe the Badger, Woo the Owl, Potter the Otter, Poof the Marten, etc. They all live happily and cooperatively in the Deep Wood, helping Fox to build a well, generally respecting the aged, and even making violin strings from the hairs in Flip the Squirrel's tail. Not bad enough to do any harm, but no fun to read aloud because the incidents are uninspired and unconvincing.
