KIRKUS REVIEW

To do what has never been done is the touchstone of progress and the genius of engineering construction. The author's lucid and interested treatment of the individuals and the social conditions responsible for these structures is excellent and inspiring. The technical explanations are direct: pyramid of Cheops, St. Paul's Cathedral, Brooklyn Bridge, Palomar Telescope etc.
