THE MERRY LITTLE FOX

The Merry Little Fox is the title story of a collection of ten animal ables from all over the world, retold and illustrated by the author/illustrator of Twenty Five Fables. The British and American entry is ""The Little Red Hen."" The Tibetan tale, ""The Farm Cat and the Mice"" is an exercise in planning and patience as an old cat, until caught out, arranges to pick off one mouse a day as they obligingly run past him. ""The Morry Little Fox"" is a Russian story where the fox trades up from a rolling pin to the point where he demands a little girl and thus reaches the fatal stage of bold deception. Another Russian fable, two from the Portuguese, one Spanish, one Indian and one African complete an interesting variety for contrast.
