KIRKUS REVIEW

We wish we could see this as a successor to the beautiful Grimm of last season, but neither in text nor illustrations do we feel that it has equal appeal. The stories selected for inclusion are crude, fable-type stories, which contribute little or nothing to the folk flavor that would make it valuable as another facet on Russian background. An enormous number of these fables have been included, few of them having conspicuous distinction.
