THE LITTLE RED HOUSE

There was a little red house/And in the little red house/There was a little green house"" and so on through the rainbow--plus gray, brown, and white (not in order)--to find at last a teddy bear: ""Kiss kiss."" Goffe's illustrations are charming, with good variety in the expressions and positions of the toddler shown unpacking a series of toy houses. The colors are attractively subtle--too subtle, perhaps, since the purple looks more like gray; sticklers will also note that the houses are not shown consistently as diminishing in size. Still, a cheerful look at colors for the youngest.
